RIO DE JANEIRO, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians has completed the signing of former England and Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Friday.
The 33-year-old agreed to a deal that runs until December after completing a medical earlier this week.
"It's a magical feeling. I can imagine with the fans it'll be a crazy atmosphere," Lingard said in a video posted on the club's social media accounts.
"First, I saw the fans at the airport saying 'Go, Corinthians! Go, Corinthians!' There's a lot of passion from the fans, which is amazing to see. The facilities are amazing."
"The lads welcomed me with open arms, the coach, the CEO have been really good to me. My first impressions: very happy, I can't wait to get going."
Lingard, who has 32 England caps, arrived as a free agent after parting ways with FC Seoul in January.
The move reunites him with striker Memphis Depay, with whom he played at Manchester United in 2015 and 2016.
Corinthians is currently third in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings, three points behind leader Palmeiras. ■
