SANAA, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Abdulmalik al-Houthi, leader of Yemen's Houthi group, said on Thursday that they stand with Iran and are prepared to take action if need be.

"Our hands are on the trigger at any moment should developments require it," said Abdulmalik, in a televised speech broadcast by the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV channel, depicting it as "a battle for the entire nation, not for one party alone."

He said that Israel and "all its arms seek to impose a situation of violation" and intend to "wage an open war against the free people of the nation without any controls, restrictions or commitments."

Abdulmalik warned that "the enemy" is preparing a list of targets and seeking financial support from certain Arab countries, stockpiling weapons before choosing the right time.

He also called on supporters to take part in a mass demonstration on Friday, which would send an important message at a sensitive time and aim to reaffirm the Yemeni people's full support for the Iranian people.

Earlier on Thursday, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, stressed the importance of protecting Yemen from being dragged into a new cycle of regional confrontations.

"No party has the right to drag the country into a broader conflict that would bring more suffering to the Yemeni people," said Grundberg.

The internationally recognized Yemeni government had also warned the Houthis against engaging in any military adventurism in support of the Iranian agenda or attempting to use Yemeni territory as a platform to target neighboring countries or international interests.
