SARAJEVO, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The Air Navigation Services Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHANSA) said on Tuesday that the country's airspace remains safe and fully operational despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The statement came after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) extended the validity of its Conflict Zone Information Bulletin covering Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Kuwait, and following coordination through the EUROCONTROL network mechanism. According to BHANSA, the operational situation has stabilized, although geopolitical sensitivities persist.
Recommendations to avoid the specified airspaces remain in force, and many airlines continue to adjust or reduce flights to destinations in the Middle East and the Gulf region. A second wave of disruptions has been marked by mass cancellations and flight suspensions, the agency noted.
BHANSA emphasized that it has not needed to increase operational configurations beyond planned capacities. The rise in traffic during the initial wave was managed within standard configurations, and current traffic levels do not require additional regulations or extraordinary capacity measures.
The agency also pointed out that rising oil prices and longer rerouted flights are increasing operating costs and affecting demand.
BHANSA noted that operational stability and safety in Bosnia and Herzegovina's airspace remain fully intact. ■
