JERUSALEM, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Dutch flag carrier KLM announced on Wednesday evening that it will temporarily suspend its flights to Israel starting from March 1.

The airline explained in a statement that "operating flights to Tel Aviv is not commercially and operationally feasible" at this time.

It added that affected passengers would be notified individually and given options to reschedule or receive a refund.

"KLM will continue to monitor developments and will reassess the decision in accordance with the circumstances," the statement said.

On Jan. 23, the airline suspended its flights to several Middle Eastern countries, including Israel, "due to the geopolitical situation." It resumed flights to Saudi Arabia later in January, and then to Israel in early February.
