ISTANBUL, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye on Wednesday unveiled a new incentive program to bolster the global reach of its television dramas, offering as much as 100,000 U.S. dollars to the producers for each episode broadcast abroad.
Announcing the plan at a news conference in Istanbul, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the minister of culture and tourism, said the initiative is intended to expand the country's drama exports while reinforcing its international tourism campaign.
Turkish series, which the minister said now draw nearly 1 billion viewers in roughly 170 countries, will assume a more prominent role in the nation's global branding strategy. Türkiye ranks among the world's top three television exporters by sales volume, he said, with export revenues exceeding 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2025.
The program will extend beyond financial subsidies. The government plans to streamline permitting procedures for productions and grant free access to state-owned filming locations. Historical landmarks, natural landscapes and Turkish cuisine will feature more prominently in future series, the minister said, in an effort to showcase the country's attractions to international audiences. ■
