SYDNEY, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- A teenage girl was airlifted to hospital on Tuesday night with serious injuries sustained when a firearm was accidentally discharged at a property in the Australian state of Queensland.
Emergency services were called to a firearms incident at a rural property around 200 km northwest of the state capital of Brisbane at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Police Service told News Corp Australia newspapers on Wednesday that a 13-year-old girl had suffered a serious injury to her arm after a firearm was accidentally discharged.
She was airlifted to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane in a critical but stable condition, and expected to make a full recovery, according to local media reports.
Police have commenced an investigation into the incident. ■
