MOSCOW, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Nine people have died and another 15 have been injured after snow and ice fell from rooftops across Russia during the past week, Russia's Emergencies Ministry said Monday.
According to the ministry, hazardous weather conditions affected 32 regions over the past week, with more than 60 incidents related to snow slides and falling ice from building roofs reported in 25 regions.
Traffic restrictions were temporarily introduced on sections of highways in nine regions due to severe weather. At present, restrictions remain in place on two road sections in the northwestern Murmansk region.
January 2026 has become the snowiest month in Moscow in more than two centuries, with the city experiencing the heaviest snowfall in 56 years on Jan. 9. ■
