KABUL, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Double road mishaps claimed the lives of six travelers and injured 14 others, including women and children, in Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni province on Saturday night, provincial police spokesman Khalid Sarhadi said Sunday.
The first accident took place on a road in Qara Bagh district late Saturday night, killing five commuters, including two women and a child, and injuring two others, the official said.
A similar accident in a span of minutes on the same road claimed one life and injured 12 others, some in critical condition, the official added.
Police personnel rushed to the sites and shifted the injured persons to nearby hospitals, the official further said.
Reckless driving and darkness on the road caused the deadly accidents, the official asserted.
Previously, a similar accident claimed 12 lives and injured three others in the northern Badakhshan province last week. ■
