MOSCOW, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Russian armed forces took control of four settlements and launched strikes against Ukrainian military facilities over the past week, Russia's Ministry of Defense said Friday.
The settlements of Chugunovka and Glushkovka in the Kharkov region, Sidorovka in the Sumy region, and Zaliznichnoye in the Zaporizhzhia region were seized during the week of Feb. 7-13, the ministry said in a statement.
Also, one massive and six combined aerial strikes were launched against Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises, energy, fuel and transport facilities used for military purposes, the ministry said.
The strikes were delivered "in response to Ukraine's terrorist attacks on civilian facilities on Russian territory," it said.
Additionally, the ministry said Russian air defense systems shot down five Flamingo long-range cruise missiles, 28 guided aerial bombs, 39 rockets from the U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, four Neptune long-range missiles, and 1,243 fixed-wing drones.
Russia's Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said Friday that two civilians were killed and three others wounded in a Ukrainian missile strike on Belgorod. ■
