ULAN BATOR, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia welcomed nearly 60,638 foreign tourists in the first two months of 2026, up 33 percent year-on-year, official data showed on Friday.
During the period, the main sources of foreign tourists to Mongolia were visitors from Russia, China and South Korea, data released by the Mongolian Tourism Organization showed.
Mongolia has been striving to develop its four-season tourism sector in a bid to diversify its mining-dependent economy. The Mongolian government has decided to continue the "Years to Visit Mongolia" tourism program until 2028 to receive a total of 2 million foreign tourists as part of its policy to support the tourism sector under the official motto "Go Mongolia."
According to the Mongolian Tourism Organization, the landlocked Asian country recorded nearly 850,000 inbound tourist visits by foreign passport holders in 2025. ■
