MANILA, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines has rolled out a 10-year Green Energy Auction (GEA) Program that will offer at least 25 gigawatts of additional renewable energy capacity through annual competitive auctions starting this year, the country's Department of Energy (DOE) said Friday.
This scale-up will expand the Philippines' renewable energy portfolio, strengthen long-term power supply reliability, and support the national targets of 35 percent renewable energy share by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040, the DOE said.
Under the upcoming auction rounds, the DOE outlined a broad mix of technologies, including onshore wind power, floating solar, rooftop solar, solar plus battery energy storage systems, biomass, geothermal and hydropower. ■
