KABUL, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least five people lost their lives and two others were injured in two separate traffic accidents in northern Afghanistan's Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces, provincial police said in statements on Thursday.
In Baghlan province, a passenger vehicle was involved in a collision in Kilagai area, resulting in the deaths of three passengers at the scene and leaving two others wounded.
In a separate incident on Wednesday afternoon in neighboring Badakhshan province, two people were killed after their vehicle veered off a mountainous road and fell into a ravine, the statement said.
Road accidents continue to claim lives across Afghanistan, frequently attributed to hazardous road conditions, reckless driving, and limited safety measures, particularly in remote and mountainous regions where infrastructure remains underdeveloped. ■
