KYIV, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Russian airstrikes targeted energy infrastructure across multiple regions of Ukraine, causing widespread disruptions to electricity, heating and water supplies, Ukrainian authorities said on Thursday.

Ukraine's Air Force said Russia launched 24 ballistic missiles, one guided air-launched missile and 219 attack drones overnight. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted or suppressed 213 aerial targets, but nine missiles and 19 drones struck 13 locations, causing damage to infrastructure.

Ukraine's largest private energy company DTEK said one of its substations in the Odesa region sustained significant damage in the strikes. The company said repairs would take considerable time, while emergency crews were working to clear debris and restore electricity to critical infrastructure.

The strikes disrupted essential services in several cities. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba said about 10,000 subscribers in the city of Dnipro and around 2,600 residential buildings in Kyiv lost heating, while in Odessa around 300,000 people experienced water supply interruptions due to power outages.

Energy workers, rescue teams and utility services were working to restore electricity, heating and water supply in affected regions, Ukrainian officials said.
