RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Colombian midfielder Jhon Arias said Saturday he is eager to begin a new chapter in his career after completing a move to Brazil's Palmeiras from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 28-year-old signed a deal that runs until December 2029 after Palmeiras reportedly agreed to pay Wolves 25 million euros.

"Considering what was possible at this moment, and what was in my hands, I needed to make decisions," Arias said in a social media post.

"Now a new chapter begins in my life and my career, always thanking those who truly support me."

Earlier, Palmeiras posted a video on its official website confirming the move.

"Hello, Palmeiras fans. I'm stopping by to leave a message for you," Arias said in the video. "I'm very happy to be arriving at a club with the size and stature that Palmeiras has. May our journey together be full of titles and memorable moments."

Arias' former club Fluminense cleared the way for Palmeiras to conclude the deal after it opted not to exercise its right of first refusal.

The playmaker made 26 appearances across all competitions for Wolves after joining the Premier League club from Fluminense last July for 17 million euros.
