CANBERRA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Australia's Adelaide University will lead a two-year project to advance sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) cooperation with China, said a statement from the university on Thursday.
The project was backed by a 400,000-Australian-dollar (278,794 U.S. dollar) grant from the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, said the statement.
Announced by Foreign Minister Penny Wong, the project aims to accelerate SAF development and deployment, a critical decarbonization pathway for aviation, one of the world's hardest-to-abate sectors, the statement said.
The project will engage researchers, aviation and fuel industry participants, investors and policymakers in both countries through five major conferences in Beijing, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hong Kong and Sydney, as well as seminars, workshops, publications, outreach and student exchanges, it added.
The SAF project is one of 22 grants announced by Wong that support cooperation and engagement between Australia and China. ■
