RIYADH, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have agreed to enhance cooperation in economy, trade, investment, energy and regional affairs following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to the kingdom, a joint statement said Tuesday.
Erdogan visited Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation.
Both sides agreed to enhance economic cooperation in key sectors, leveraging opportunities under Saudi Vision 2030 and Türkiye's Century Vision. They emphasized expanding non-oil trade, deepening public-private collaboration, and boosting bilateral investment in areas, including finance, renewable energy, and construction.
The two countries also expressed readiness to cooperate on infrastructure and development projects aligned with Vision 2030, and welcomed prospects in tourism, information technology, and healthcare highlighted at a recent investment forum.
In energy, the two countries agreed to boost cooperation in oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals, as well as in renewables, electricity, grid interconnection, storage, and efficiency. They also highlighted collaboration on clean hydrogen, including its technology, transport, and storage.
On climate change, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the UN climate agreements and emphasized cooperation on emissions reduction and the circular carbon economy. Saudi Arabia welcomed Türkiye's hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference in Antalya in November 2026.
They also pledged to continue coordinating in international organizations regarding regional issues. The two sides expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, called for civilian protection and adherence to international law, and reiterated support for a two-state solution. They also reaffirmed support for political resolutions to conflicts in Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Syria. ■
