HANOI, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ministry of Health has proposed expanding the list of crowded public places subject to a smoking ban as part of a draft amended law on prevention and control of tobacco harms, local daily VnExpress reported on Tuesday.

Under the proposal, smoking would be completely banned at entertainment, recreation and sports facilities, historical and cultural relic sites, museums, religious establishments and places of worship.

The draft also adds a wide range of crowded public venues to the ban list, including markets, shopping malls, supermarkets, passenger terminals, railway stations, bus stations, ports, inland waterway terminals and seaports.

Under the current law on prevention and control of tobacco harms, smoking is already prohibited at medical facilities, educational institutions, care centers and areas with high fire and explosion risks.
