BRASILIA, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Gabriel Paulista and Yuri Alberto scored in each half as Corinthians secured its second Supercopa do Brasil title on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Flamengo.
Gabriel fired Corinthians ahead in the 26th minute at Mane Garrincha Stadium with a low strike into the far corner after Gustavo Henrique's headed pass.
Flamengo was reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Colombian midfielder Jorge Carrascal was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.
Yuri doubled the lead in second-half stoppage time, running onto Kaio Cesar's pass and chipping the ball over goalkeeper Agustin Rossi before heading into an empty net.
Flamengo had just three shots on target for the match despite controlling almost 60 percent of the total possession.
Former Zenit Saint-Petersburg striker Yuri said he was one of several Corinthians players suffering the effects of a virus.
"I was exhausted from the kickoff," the 24-year-old told reporters after the match. "It was tough but thankfully I was able to score and help the team win another trophy." ■
