LONDON, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- A major incident was declared on Sunday after a fire broke out at Southampton General Hospital in southern England.
Fire crews were called to the hospital in the morning. Patients have been evacuated, and the nearby roads have been closed by emergency services.
The fire is now contained and no injuries have been reported, said the hospital, adding that all affected areas have been evacuated.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
The hospital said its emergency department is diverting patients away, unless their condition is deemed "life or limb threatening," advising people requiring medical attention to use other local services. ■
