JERUSALEM, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Israeli airstrikes hit southern Lebanon on Sunday, injuring at least one person and damaging homes and vehicles, and reportedly sprayed substances suspected of being toxic on farmland, Israeli and Lebanese sources said.

The Israeli military said in a statement that the strikes targeted "several Hezbollah engineering vehicles" in the Mazraat Aabboudiye area, adding that the bulldozers were being used by militants to rebuild infrastructure.

Lebanon's Ministry of Health said Israeli raids on the town of Qanarit in the Sidon district injured one person.

Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that an Israeli force carried out a dawn incursion into the town of Rab Thalateen in the Marjeyoun district, detonating two houses and causing extensive damage to nearby homes.

The municipality of Aita al-Shaab said two agricultural aircraft flew over the town's outskirts in the Al-Hima area, spraying trees and farmland with substances suspected of being toxic, the agency said.

Despite a ceasefire that took effect on Nov. 27, 2024, Israeli forces have continued to carry out strikes in Lebanon, citing threats from Hezbollah, while maintaining positions at five key points along the Lebanese border.
