JERUSALEM, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Friday that its troops killed three Palestinian militants in the southern Gaza Strip overnight.
According to the statement, IDF troops identified eight militants who emerged from a tunnel in eastern Rafah.
Following the identification, the Israeli Air Force struck and killed three of them, it added.
According to the Israeli army, it later conducted additional strikes on the areas where the remaining militants tried to escape, and the results of the strikes are under review.
The statement said Israeli soldiers continued to search the area to locate and kill all the militants.
"IDF troops in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat," it read.
Meanwhile, Palestine's official news agency WAFA reported that two Palestinians were killed early Friday in an Israeli strike on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The agency said that the two, identified as Walid Hassan Darwish and Yasser Mohammad Abu Shahadeh, were killed after an Israeli drone attacked a gathering of civilians in the camp. ■
