JAKARTA, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, known as Whoosh, recorded a surge of more than 60 percent in foreign passenger trips in 2025, reflecting growing confidence among international travelers, operator PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has said.
KCIC data showed that 401,282 foreign nationals used the Whoosh service in 2025, up from 251,525 in 2024.
Eva Chairunisa, KCIC's general manager for corporate secretary, said the steady increase was an important indicator of service quality. "The consistent growth in foreign passengers shows that international tourists increasingly trust Whoosh in terms of safety, comfort, and ease of access," the official said in a statement on Thursday.
Malaysian tourists accounted for the largest share of foreign passengers, followed by travelers from Singapore, China, Japan, and South Korea, according to KCIC data.
KCIC attributed the growth to rising international tourism and wider global awareness of the Whoosh service, adding that the company remains committed to improving service quality and transport integration.
"Whoosh has become not only a mode of transportation but also part of the travel experience for foreign tourists," Chairunisa said. ■
