UNITED NATIONS, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The UN Security Council on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution to extend the mandate of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) for a year, until Jan. 31, 2027.

Resolution 2814 revises BINUH's mandate to cover six key tasks, including facilitating inter-Haitian national dialogue, providing electoral assistance, supporting Haitian authorities' efforts to reduce community violence, assisting in the design of a Haitian-led disarmament and reintegration program, monitoring and reporting on cases of gang violence, criminal activities, and human rights abuses and violations.

The resolution emphasizes the need for necessary coordination among BINUH and relevant UN agencies in Haiti, as well as with the Gang Suppression Force, Haitian authorities, and other international and regional partners.

The resolution requests the UN secretary-general to report to the Security Council every 90 days on its implementation.
