JAKARTA, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's free nutritious meal program has so far benefited more than 60 million people, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said on Thursday.

"There are currently 22,091 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPGs) serving over 60 million beneficiaries," Zulkifli noted, adding that the program continues to expand nationwide.

According to Zulkifli, the number of SPPGs is projected to increase to 33,000 this year, with a focus on underdeveloped regions.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government has allocated a budget of 335 trillion rupiah (about 20 billion U.S. dollars) for the program in 2026, a sharp rise from 71 trillion rupiah last year.

Indonesia aims for the free nutritious meal program to reach 82.9 million beneficiaries, including students, pregnant and nursing mothers, as well as toddlers.
