KABUL, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- More than four million Afghan children have been supported in continuing their education over the past year with assistance from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), local media Tolo news reported Sunday.
According to the report, more than 200 schools were constructed or rehabilitated across the country during the past year, and around 8,000 female teachers received training to help strengthen Afghanistan's education system.
The report emphasized that reviving education is vital to sustaining hope and securing the future of children, noting that expanding access to learning opportunities remains a top priority nationwide.
UNICEF continues to cooperate with local authorities and partners to broaden educational services, particularly in remote areas, as part of ongoing efforts to address the effects of prolonged conflict and economic hardships on children's education. ■
