KABUL, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi and Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani held separate meetings with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo in Kabul on Saturday, according to statements issued by the two ministries.
Muttaqi and DiCarlo held comprehensive discussions on strengthening engagement and coordination between the Afghan government and the United Nations, including progress on the Doha Process. During the talks, DiCarlo requested Afghan cooperation in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance by certain UN agencies whose operations remain suspended, stressing that such aid is vital for the Afghan people.
Meanwhile, DiCarlo and Haqqani engaged in in-depth exchanges on advancing Afghanistan's relations with the international community, cooperation in combating narcotics, strengthening economic stability, easing restrictions on the private sector, and enhancing the effectiveness of UN-led humanitarian efforts.
According to social media posts, a UN delegation led by DiCarlo arrived in Kabul on Saturday for a three-day visit. ■
