JAKARTA, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian joint search and rescue teams have recovered a second victim from the crash site of an ATR 42-500 aircraft in the Mount Bulusaraung area of South Sulawesi province, authorities said on Monday.
Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Mohammad Syafii told local media that the body was found in a ravine about 500 meters deep during continued ground operations.
"Yesterday we found one victim, and today another has been located," Syafii said.
The aircraft crashed in rugged mountainous terrain in Pangkajene and Islands Regency, complicating rescue efforts.
Presidential spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto has ordered intensified search and evacuation operations after the plane lost contact while approaching Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar on Saturday.
The aircraft was carrying 10 people, including seven crew members and three passengers.
Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency has deployed an aircraft to support weather modification efforts, while around 1,200 personnel are involved in the ongoing search amid difficult terrain and weather conditions. ■
