OSLO, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- In a direct rebuke to the latest tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, eight European countries on Sunday issued a joint statement declaring their "full solidarity" with Denmark and Greenland and warning that the U.S. actions over Greenland risk triggering a "dangerous downward spiral" in transatlantic relations.
The statement, released by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Britain, clarified that the ongoing "Arctic Endurance" military exercise with Denmark is a pre-coordinated effort to strengthen shared Arctic security. ■
