HANOI, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Urban railway lines in Vietnam's capital Hanoi served nearly 21 million passenger trips in 2025, exceeding the annual plan by over 7 percent, local media Tien Phong reported Thursday.

Total ticket revenue topped 143 billion Vietnamese dong (about 5.69 million U.S. dollars), surpassing the assigned plan by 29 percent, said the report.

The capital city currently operates two metro lines and aims to expand the network to 15 lines with a total length of 616.9 kilometers by 2045, according to local media Lao Dong.

The Cat Linh-Ha Dong line began commercial service in November 2021, followed by the elevated Nhon-Cau Giay section of the Nhon-Hanoi Station line in August 2024.
