HANOI, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam plans to build and pilot a national traceability system for agricultural products by the end of this year, aiming to ensure food safety, protect consumers, and support Vietnam's international integration, the Vietnam News Agency reported Monday.

Under a freshly signed decision, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will establish a unified, nationwide traceability platform, ensuring transparency and public access to information on product origins, said the report.

By July 1, 2026, the ministry will refine and launch the system for most key food products, using QR codes to track farms, production areas, harvest timelines and supply-chain stages.

By the end of 2026, the agriculture and environment sector aims to complete the system, with initial application focusing on durian traceability.
