KABUL, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- An Afghan hand-woven carpet produced by a local company has secured first place among submissions from 19 countries at the Domotex International Exhibition in Istanbul, Türkiye, local media outlet TOLOnews reported on Saturday.
Citing the Union of Afghan Carpet Producers and Exporters, the report described the achievement as a significant milestone, one that is expected to boost the international reputation and market value of Afghan carpets.
This marks the second time for Afghan carpet producers and exporters to participate in the Domotex event, which ran from Jan. 8 for two days.
Artisans and industry leaders regard this victory as a crucial step toward global recognition for Afghanistan's esteemed handmade carpet industry. ■
