ST. MORITZ, Switzerland, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's Zhao Dan and Yin Zheng claimed the gold medal in the skeleton mixed team event at the St. Moritz leg of the 2025-2026 IBSF Skeleton World Cup on Friday, securing China's first skeleton World Cup title of the season.
Yin also took bronze in the men's skeleton race at the same venue.
The skeleton mixed team event features one female and one male athlete from the same team, each completing a single run, with the combined time determining the final standings. The event will make its Olympic debut at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic Winter Games.
Zhao led off for the Chinese team, clocking 1 minute 14.13 seconds to place second among all female competitors. Yin followed with a steady performance, finishing his run in 1:12.03, also ranking second in the men's field. Their combined time of 2:26.16 topped the standings and earned China the gold medal.
In the men's individual competition, Yin captured another bronze of the season following his third place finish in the season's opening World Cup in Italy. He placed second in the first run with a time of 1:08.72 before slipping to seventh in the second. His combined time of 2:17.56 secured the third place overall. Britain's Matt Weston won gold, while Italy's Amedeo Bagnis took silver. ■
