TOKYO, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- A fire broke out at a shop in Osaka City in western Japan on Friday, local media reported.
The fire occurred at a store in Naniwa Ward in Osaka just after 10:30 a.m. local time. It remains unclear whether anyone has been trapped or injured, public broadcaster NHK reported.
Tsutenkaku Tower, a well-known local landmark, is located about 200 meters from the scene.
Footage taken by NHK cameras shows a large amount of whitish smoke rising from the building.
Firefighters are currently working to extinguish the blaze. ■
