HANOI, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power complex officially began commercial operations earlier this week in southern Vietnam's Dong Nai province, local media VnEconomy reported Friday.

The complex has a combined capacity of 1,624 megawatts and is expected to supply over 9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually to the national grid, with a total investment of 1.4 billion U.S. dollars, the report said.

Under Vietnam's revised National Power Development Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, LNG-fired power is projected to reach about 22 gigawatts by 2030, accounting for 9.5 to 12.3 percent of total power capacity.
