HANOI, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam shipped more than 247,400 tons of pepper abroad for 1.66 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, a record for the sector, local daily Dan Tri reported Friday.
Despite a modest 1.2 percent decline in export volume compared with 2024, export value rose 26 percent, said the report, citing the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association.
Average export prices rose sharply, with black pepper fetching 6,607 dollars per ton, up 36.2 percent year on year, and white pepper averaging 8,629 dollars per ton, an increase of 33.6 percent.
The United States continued to be Vietnam's largest pepper buyer, with nearly 50,600 tons, followed by the United Arab Emirates with over 22,000 tons, and China with nearly 20,000 tons. ■
