VIENTIANE, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- The 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) opened Tuesday morning in the Lao capital Vientiane, with delegates set to deliberate and adopt several key documents during the three-day meeting.
The documents, including the Party's Third Political Program, the political report of the 11th LPRP Central Committee, the 10th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2026-2030, and revised Party Statutes for the 12th tenure, are expected to define the LPRP's strategic direction, political and organizational line, and the country's socio-economic development pathway.
The congress will also elect the 12th Party Central Committee, the LPRP's highest leadership body for the upcoming term.
Security and public order have been prioritized to ensure the smooth conduct of the congress, which has been reinforced by support from the public and private sectors. Lao leaders expressed gratitude for the unity and recognition of the event's national importance. ■
