BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released a work plan to deepen the integration of the industrial internet and artificial intelligence (AI), as part of a broader effort to strengthen the country's manufacturing sector.
According to the plan, by 2028, the level of integration between the industrial internet and AI will see marked improvements, with upgrading of new-type industrial networks to be carried out at no fewer than 50,000 enterprises.
The document also calls for the development of a number of high-quality datasets across 20 key industries and the cultivation of a group of intelligent solution providers to promote coordinated upgrading among large, medium-sized and small enterprises.
China is accelerating the integration of AI into manufacturing as part of its efforts to reshape its industrial base and move up the global value chain. For instance, in August, Shanghai unveiled a three-year "AI plus manufacturing" implementation plan, which introduces measures aimed at achieving breakthroughs in industrial intelligence technologies. ■
