SINGAPORE, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore will open a public exhibition on Tuesday on the planning and development of Changi Airport's upcoming Terminal 5 (T5).

The exhibition, titled "T5 In the Making," will run until March at the arrival hall of Terminal 3 and will be free to the public, according to a joint statement on Monday by the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Changi Airport Group.

It sets out the background to the airport's expansion, including the shift from Paya Lebar to Changi, and provides information on the scale and layout of T5. It also outlines technologies being considered to address manpower, an aging population and climate-related challenges.

Construction of T5 is expected to be completed in the mid-2030s. It will be connected to existing terminals, allowing Changi Airport to operate as a single integrated airport.
