KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- All ministries and government departments are to expedite the shift to online processes as part of ongoing bureaucratic reforms, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Monday.
In a speech addressing cabinet members and civil servants on the occasion of the new year, Anwar said digitalization saves time, improves service quality, and reduces administrative red tape that burdens the public, and that new technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI), could be utilized to prepare draft responses to official correspondence.
Anwar also cited a number of other measures to implement reforms aimed at protecting public interests, particularly in ensuring that development costs for affordable housing and low-cost projects do not continue to rise, as well as tackling the cost of living, especially in stable food products like eggs and chicken, and the disbursement of direct cash aid to the public. ■
