BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 jolted South Sandwich Islands region at 1035 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 35.0 km, was initially determined to be at 58.74 degrees south latitude and 25.27 degrees west longitude. ■
