GAZA, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in southern Gaza on Sunday, Palestinian medical sources said.

The sources told Xinhua that 15-year-old Alaa al-Din Asraf was killed by Israeli fire in the Jorat al-Lut area, south of Khan Younis.

They added that Fadi Salah was killed by Israeli fire northwest of Rafah, and his body was transferred to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

According to local sources and eyewitnesses, an Israeli drone fired on an area from which the Israeli army had withdrawn under a ceasefire agreement, killing Salah.

Earlier, fisherman Abdul Rahman al-Qan, 32, was killed by a bullet fired by Israeli naval forces while fishing off the coast of Rafah. The bullet struck him in the head, and his body was taken to Nasser Hospital, the sources said.

Meanwhile, Israel launched a series of airstrikes across northern and western Rafah, while the Israeli army demolished residential buildings in eastern Khan Younis, the sources said.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on these incidents.

On Saturday, The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that IDF troops "remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat."

Gaza-based health authorities said in a press statement on Sunday that hospitals across Gaza received three more bodies and 13 injuries over the past 24 hours.

The authorities said 420 people have been killed and 1,184 others injured since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on Oct. 10, 2025.

The Palestinian death toll from the war in Gaza has risen to 71,386, with 171,264 injuries since Oct. 7, 2023, they added.
