KABUL, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were injured, some in critical condition, after two cars collided on Monday in the northern Afghan province of Badakhshan, provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar confirmed on Tuesday.
Blaming the drivers' irresponsible driving for the mishap, the official added that both drivers and six travelers were injured in the accident. It occurred outside the provincial capital, Faizabad, on Monday afternoon.
Ramshackle roads, disregard for traffic rules, old-fashioned vehicles, and reckless driving often lead to traffic accidents in post-war Afghanistan. ■
