ISLAMABAD, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and three others injured when a passenger bus collided with an ambulance in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Tuesday, rescue officials said.
The accident occurred near the Zahir Pir Interchange in Rahim Yar Khan district amid dense fog that reduced visibility, a spokesperson for the state-run Rescue 1122 told Xinhua, adding that the ambulance was on an intercity journey carrying a dead body when it was hit by the bus.
All four victims died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, the spokesperson said.
Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to speeding, poor visibility during winter fog, and weak enforcement of traffic rules. ■
