RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Santos forward Neymar has undergone successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Monday.
Brazil national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar carried out the arthroscopy at the Mater Dei Nova Lima hospital in the southern city of Belo Horizonte.
"The surgery was a success and the player is doing well," read a statement on Santos' official website.
It added that the 33-year-old was discharged on Monday afternoon and will "immediately begin" his rehabilitation process, coordinated by physiotherapist Rafael Martini.
Earlier this month, Neymar revealed he had played the latter half of the 2025 Brazilian season carrying the injury but decided to play through pain to help Santos avoid relegation.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star made just 28 appearances for Santos across all competitions this year, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists. ■
