KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Historical revisionism with the aim of pushing forward dangerous agendas risks undermining the hard-won post-WWII order and poses the risk of global confrontation and fragmentation, a Malaysian scholar said.

In his remarks at the recent International Forum On New Inclusive Asia, Chairman of the Center for New Inclusive Asia Ong Tee Keat said that even while many economies are still reeling from disruptive actions by the United States on global trade, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent remarks on China's Taiwan have further cast a long and unsettling shadow on the peace and stability that have been in place over the past 80 years.

"Against the gloomy backdrop of our increasingly fragile peace, any attempt to 'unleash' the once-defeated perpetrators of WWII, for whatever strategic purpose, risks granting them carte blanche to revive militarism. The consequences would be disastrous for the world, particularly for emerging economies and developing nations," he said.

Ong also urged nations, particularly those of the Global South, to renew their commitment to the principles of the Bandung Conference of 1955, particularly in refraining from interference in the internal affairs of other states.

He added that the rise of new groupings and regional organizations such as the BRICS inter-governmental grouping will provide a platform for the Global South, which seeks fair and equitable platforms for international cooperation.
