LONDON, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony.

The 48-year-old, widely regarded as one of the Premier League's greatest players, will be honored during the live show on Thursday.

Henry, who retired from professional football in 2014, said he was deeply proud of the recognition.

"Football has given me everything and I gave it my all," he said. "To be recognised as part of its history with this Lifetime Achievement award, and to have made my mark for the fans and my teammates, is something I'll never take for granted."

Across two spells with Arsenal, Henry scored 228 goals in 377 appearances, surpassing Ian Wright to become the club's all-time leading scorer in 2005. His honors with the Gunners include two Premier League titles and three FA Cups, most notably the 2003-04 season when Arsenal went unbeaten to earn the "Invincible" status.

Individually, Henry won the Premier League Golden Boot four times, a joint record, and was named in the PFA Team of the Year for six consecutive seasons. He also shares the Premier League record for most assists in a single campaign, with 20, alongside Kevin De Bruyne.
