PHNOM PENH, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Thai military forces have continued to fire artillery shells at many locations in Cambodian territory from Monday midnight until Tuesday morning, said a Cambodian defense spokesperson on Tuesday.

Cambodian Defense Ministry's Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata made the remarks in a press briefing.

On the same day, Cambodia's Interior Ministry said in a press release that the civilian death toll in Cambodia has increased to 15.

"As of 7:00 a.m. local time on Dec. 16, the total number of Cambodian civilians killed has reached 15, and the number of injured has reached 76," it said.

It added that the total number of displaced persons has increased to 126,508 families, equivalent to 422,698 individuals.

The Cambodia-Thailand border conflict has reignited since Dec. 7, and both sides have accused the other of initiating the attack.
