HONG KONG, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan, at 05:38 GMT on Tuesday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 40.99 degrees north latitude and 143.08 degrees east longitude. ■
