KATHMANDU, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Foreign direct investment pledges into Nepal grew year-on-year in the first five months of the current 2025-26 fiscal year, the Department of Industry said in a report on Tuesday.

The committed amount stood at 38.59 billion Nepali rupees (about 266.07 million U.S. dollars) between mid-July and mid-December, as against 20.77 billion rupees during the same period in the previous fiscal year, the department said. The pledges are to set up 438 projects aimed at generating 33,814 jobs.

While the agriculture sector received the highest pledges in terms of budget, the information and communication technology and tourism sectors led in the number of projects, according to the report.
