KABUL, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have rounded up 126 drug addicts from various districts of the capital, Kabul, and transferred them to a rehabilitation center, the country's Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement on Tuesday.
A couple of days ago, police in the western Ghor province reported rescuing 60 drug addicts and reuniting them with their families.
Afghanistan, once a major poppy-growing country, is reported to have more than 3 million drug addicts. In response, the Afghan government has been fighting to rid the country of the drug menace since taking over power in August 2021. ■
